In 1995 he formed the group Dub Nation with fellow band mates Frank "Fantom" Caruso, D. Mungaray and Scott Maddern.

Paul "Fish" Dawson was the original lead vocalist of the group, and his stand out vocals on their debut releases "One Great World" in 1996, and "Let the Truth be Known" in 1998 was the contributing factor to winning Best Reggae Act of 1999 by the California Music Awards.

As Dub Nation is set to release their 4th album "Tuffer than Tuffist," Dawson also leads former members of Dub Nation in his own band The South Bay Dub All-Stars.
